Café des Artistes "...one word - Fabulous!"
You might say that Thierry Blouet is passionate about food: not only is he a master chef and the owner of this restaurant, he's also a promoter of PV's beloved Festival Gourmet, held each November. In his kitchen Mexican ingredients and European techniques are used to produce such stellar dishes as cream of prawn and pumpkin soup, mussels in a scallop mousse, and roast duck with soy and honey.
Special menus combine some of his signature dishes with appropriate wines and, of course, dessert. Nestled in its own magical gardens, Café des Artistes exists in a fantasy-like setting. There are several sleek, intimate dining spaces, including a courtyard garden, as well as a cigar lounge, and a bar. Reservations required. Open 6 pm-11:30 pm daily. Prices are moderate to moderately-expensive. AMEX, MC and Visa accepted.

RECOMMEND PROBLEM QUESTION |
| Without a doubt, the best meal I have ever been served. Course after course of masterfully prepared food in a most romantic setting. An anniversary dinner I fear may never be matched. Chef David Nelson | | | We have eaten at many fine dining restaurants, including The French Laundry and to me this restaurant is on the same level. Wonderful food and attentive service. I would love to transport this restaurant and chef to within 25 miles from us.Jean Berry | | | Wow, am I the only one who didn't really like this place? I'm not a food snob, but I live in SF and have been to some of the best. First, they sat us in the corner up the stairs outside by the chair and table storage area...not romantic. The food was obviously expensive and not that ah-inspiring. Maybe a bad night, who knows, but I will not return because there are tons of places around PV that are much better.Aaron | | | My family and friends dine at the Cafe every chance we get when vacationing in PV. Five star quality through and through!Mark Dansbury | | |
Cafe des Artistes is the diamond in the rough of Puerto vallarta. It has proven to be the best dining experience our family has ever had. The beautiful terrace which rained white orchids. Food is always perfect. The Cafe is the driving force to international food perfection.Chef Mark Dansbury |

This is the most glorious restaurant. To have orchids raining down on you while you eat among candles. And the private dinning room is to die for. It is worth traveling to Puerto Vallarta just for dinner. The most romantic meal on earth...Kim - Houston |

The food was divine, the service was most helpful, and the ambience was unique under the trees on the terrace. We hope to win a ticket for two!Henry & Pat Irish Amez |

We spent one night of May Restaurant Week 2005 and agreed it was the finest meal of the past couple years. Memories are made of this! Kudos.gary |

My friends and I visited Cafe des Artistes in February. What an awesome dining experience... The Sea Bass was done to perfection, and the service was attentive but not pushy... Prices were on par with fine dining in the US. After your meal go to the bar and have a glass of wine and listen to the piano and flute player.Jennifer Walther, Milwaukee Wisconsin |

If you are looking for a fine dining experience while in Puerto Vallarta, you must try this restaurant. The decor and ambiance are lovely and the service and food are excellent. But don't expect to find Mexican food or locals in this restaurant. The clientele is decidedly tourist/American transplants.Philadelphia, PA |

We used to live in Puerto Vallarta during the 60's and 70's. I hadn't been back since...and what a pleasure to find such great food.....it literally attacked all your senses! I'd love to know how to get the cold melon soup with goat cheese and the short ribs with prune recipes.Boise, Idaho |

One dines in a lovely series of rooms filled with interesting art or in a charming multi-level garden - our choice. Great food, usually excellent service. Pricey for Mexico, but worth it, and there is no view of the Pacific...Marianne, San Francisco |

Café des Artistes Captures Three "Best of Puerto Vallarta" Awards
In a recent online survey conducted by virtualvallarta.com, Café des Artistes was selected by tourists and residents alike as the Best Overall and Best Gourmet restaurant in Puerto Vallarta and the Best Wine List in the entire Banderas Bay area.
This year's "Reader's Choice" winners were selected by people who filled out an online voting form at virtualvallarta.com between February 1 and June 15, 2005. Overall, more than 11,000 votes were submitted — almost three times as many as last year. Thirty one percent of the voters were "locals," and 66% identified themselves as visitors.
Puerto Vallarta, and the entire Banderas Bay, includes some of the finest restaurants found in Mexico, so the competition was fierce, but the survey says that Café des Artistes remains one of Vallarta's favorite places to enjoy fine dining in an elegant atmosphere.
