The 10th Edition of The Floating Film Festival

It has been called the “most exclusive film festival in the world” and Rod Steiger said “It Was The Best Film Festival I Ever Attended.”

It is easy to understand why. Only 200 movie lovers will experience this cinematic journey on the high seas when the 10th edition of The Floating Film Festival sets sails for the Mexican Riviera on February 25th 2008 from Los Angeles for seven days aboard the ultra luxurious Crystal Cruises Symphony.

This magnificent ship, part of the first class luxury collection from Crystal Cruises features a state of the art fitness and spa facility, Casino and award winning gourmet cuisine. The 7 day voyage includes stops In Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta.

Created in 1991 by Dusty Cohl, founder of The Toronto International Film Festival, The Floating Film Festival has become the ultimate movie lovers’ fantasy, featuring a diverse film program set against the tropical locations. Over the years The Floating Film Festival has premiered such extraordinary films as Silence of the Lambs, Hoop Dreams, Howard’s End, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Corporation, Sophie Scholl with appearances by Ted Demme, Mario and Melvin Van Peebles, Jiri Menzel, Robert Towne, Martin Scorsese, and Haskell Wexler amongst many other special guests.

The festival will feature over 15 films selected and presented by our renowned programming team which includes Pulitzer prize winning film critic Roger Ebert, Richard Corliss (Time Magazine) Jim Emerson of Roger Ebert.com, Richard Crouse, George Anthony, Film Historian Mary Corliss, veteran festival programmer Hannah Fisher, Movie City News founder David Poland, and director Barry Avrich.

The Floating Film Festival will also feature a tribute to our special guest, legendary actress Gena Rowlands, star of such classic films as The Notebook, Gloria, and A Woman Under The Influence, directed by her late husband John Cassavetes, and for which she received an Oscar nomination.

Past recipients of this honour have included Rod Steiger, Chuck Jones, Cliff Robertson, Haskell Wexler, Studs Terkel, Evelyn Keyes, Melvin Van Peebles and Lou Jacobi.
