Marazul: The New Kid on the Beach Margarita La Bonita - PVNN
| Located where Venustiano Carranza street meets Los Muertos Beach on the south side of Puerto Vallarta, Marazul offers fabulous food and service in an elegant beachfront setting. | | Puerto Vallarta - Last night, despite the heavy downpour, we made our way down to the new restaurant on the beach, "Marazul." And believe me it was well worth the swim across the rivers that they now call streets!
First of all the restaurant is very attractive. A large beautifully made palapa roof (and take note La Palapa and El Dorado: it is not only attractive, but it doesn't leak! So it can be done!)
The tables and chairs are of a rich looking wood set off by white linen place mats and napkins. The center of attention is a large bronze sculpture that has to seen to be appreciated. And there are lights on the beach so that you can see the waves, and on this night, the rain.
And, of course, most important - the food and service. Both were excellent. The service was attentive but not smothering. We started with pumpkin soup that was creamy and delicious. An entree of Sea Bass that was moist and just the right serving size, accompanied by a yummy risotto.
For dessert, a creamy and scrumptious Chocolate Mousse that was large enough to share without either of us feeling cheated! And believe me, I'm very picky about my postres!
Marazul has been open for less than a week, so some things need to be fine tuned - for instance they haven't gotten their wine cellar fully stocked yet and a few items on the menu were not available - but the food and service were outstanding.
The owner, Martin, greeted us and told us that they are of the same company as Si Senor and The Blue Shrimp and that when they get in full swing they will have FOUR menus: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and a Speciality menu. And they will have live music!
Here's hoping that they keep up their good start and become another option for those of us who want a lovely dining experience on the beach! Located where Venustiano Carranza street meets Los Muertos Beach on the south side of Puerto Vallarta, Marazul will officially open on September 11th. |
