Puerto Vallarta - Get ready for the best cinematic experience in town with the fifth edition of the Puerto Vallarta Film Festival, opening this coming Wednesday, December 10 at Cinemark Plaza Caracol.

For five consecutive days, the Puerto Vallarta Film Festival offers the local audiences a selection of some of the most anticipated Hollywood releases of the season, along with a section of environmental films featuring the latest documentaries from highly-praised filmmakers from around the globe.

Highlights for this year's Offical Selection include: Clint Eastwood's Changeling, a drama based on a real story starring Angelina Jolie; Ron Howard's political drama Frost/Nixon; Jonathan Demme's triumphal cinematic return Rachel Getting Married; as well as Appaloosa, the acclaimed western directed and starred by Ed Harris.

The Puerto Vallarta Film Festival is proud to present, as part of its 2008 Enviromental Section, four documentaries that have been raising both critics and audiences acclaim at major festivals worldwide:

Encounters at the End of the World, Werner Herzog's reflection on the relationship between man and Mother Nature; Papalotzin, an exciting film on the annual journey of the Monarch Butterflies from Canada to Mexico; Up the Yangtze, on China's industrial and commercial development seen through the eyes of a girl; and At the Edge of the World, a real-life adventure which becomes the most dramatic environmental campaign ever filmed.

As in previous years, the Environmental Section of the festival is sponsored in part by Cinemark, Corporativo Ambiental and the US Embassy. All films featured in this section will be free of charge to the public.

Tickets to all of the festival film screenings, including the opening and closing films, will be $42 pesos, and may be purchased beginning Monday, December 8th, 2008 at the Cinemark box offices in Plaza Caracol.
