Puerto Vallarta Hosts 2009 International Beach Volleyball Tournament PVNN June 12, 2009
The first round of elimination games in the Puerto Vallarta 2009 International Beach Volleyball Tournament began today at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Stadium, with 10 international and 2 Mexican teams competing for their chance to play in the finals on June 14th.
A special stage has been constructed for the games inside the sports arena, which has a seating capacity of 3000, so there's plenty of room for all of the fans who are expected to come out and cheer on the teams from Bulgaria, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, United States, Italy, Romania, Guatemala, Poland, Greece and Mexico that are participating in the tournament.
The elimination games, which started on Friday, June 12, featured hot competitions by teams from Canada, Costa Rica, The United States, Greece, Poland, El Salvador, Guatemala, Italy, Brazil and Mexico battling it out for their place in tomorrow's final elimination rounds.
The second round of elimination games will continue on Saturday, June 13 from 11 am until 6 pm, with Friday's winners competing to play in the finals on Sunday, June 14.
Sunday's games are the highlight of the 3-day event with the following competitions scheduled:
11 am and 12:30 pm: Semifinal matches 2 pm: Third place game 3:30 pm: First and second place game
With prizes totaling $100,000 pesos, the Puerto Vallarta 2009 International Beach Volleyball Tournament promises a weekend full of hot competition that you won't want to miss. Games are played daily at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Stadium in Puerto Vallarta from 11 am to 6 pm through June 14th. Admission is free. If you are not in Puerto Vallarta, the games are being broadcast nationally via cable television. |
