U.S. Election 2012: Stewart Alexander to Seek PFP, SPUSA and Green Party Presidential Nominations

Stewart Alexander 2012
Shortly after the 2010 Primary Election, Stewart Alexander announced that he would seek the U.S. Presidential Nominations for the Socialist Party USA and the Green Party of the United States. Today, Stewart Alexander announced that he will also seek the 2012 Presidential Nomination for the Peace and Freedom Party.

Stewart Alexander has been a member of the Peace and Freedom Party since the 90s and has sought public office on the PFP's California ballot line three times; first running as a candidate for California Lieutenant Governor in 2006 receiving more than 43,000 votes, and most recently, a PFP candidate for California Governor in the June Primary Election.

Stewart Alexander's political career spans three decades. During the 80s, Alexander was a political activist working for the Florida Consumer Action Network (F-CAN) as a Florida State environmental lobbyist. In the mid 80s, Alexander was a political radio talk show host in Los Angeles. In 1989, Alexander was a candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles campaigning on redevelopment issues. In 2006, Alexander was a candidate for California Lieutenant Governor and in 2008 he was the Vice Presidential Nominee for the Socialist Party USA.

Only weeks after announcing his candidacy for president, Stewart Alexander introduced a national economic recovery program; he refers to the program as "A Better Deal." Alexander is calling for unconventional measures to revive the U.S. economy and to create jobs; he is calling for all banks, financial and insurance institutions to be socially owned and operated by a democratically-controlled national banking authority which should include credit unions, mutual insurance cooperatives, and corporate state banks.

While running as the Socialist Party's 2008 nominee for Vice President, Alexander proposed a plan that would include other North American countries to form a "North American Banking Authority." Alexander says "The struggles for working people are global; we need global solutions. In the 21st Century, it has become necessary to reorganize the entire world banking system." To meet the growing needs of working people, Alexander is proposing the creation of a Universal Basic Income (UBI) to help eliminate poverty and to meet the basic needs of working people and the long term needs for seniors.

Approaching 2012, Stewart Alexander is hoping to gain support from five political parties that he says will be crucial to his campaign to become president; the Peace and Freedom Party - California, Socialist Party USA, the Green Party of the United States, the Freedom Socialist Party, and the Liberty Union Party - Vermont.
