Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico - Dozens of local business owners are embracing Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube as part of their marketing strategy after attending the second Tweet to Be Heard Conference over the weekend at Hotel Villa Varadero in Nuevo Vallarta. People came from all over the Bay of Banderas and beyond to learn from social media marketing experts about the importance of developing relationships with their customers online.
"I used to think Facebook and Twitter was a time-waster, but now I understand they are critical tools to attract potential customers and engage my clients. I learned so much from Tweet to Be Heard 2 that I will be implementing immediately," said Crys Delacerna.
Over four full days, leading social media marketing gurus held courses and workshops on everything from why and how to incorporate online social media into business plans, to step-by-step instruction on creating blogs, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn & You Tube.
Mexico's top consultants, Marco Ayuso, Guillermo Perezbolde and Puerto Vallarta's own Victor Garcia and Katy Ochoa joined Trey Pennington and Jay Handler from the U.S. in sharing tools, tips and strategies to grow business relationships online.
"We were fortunate to have real leaders in the field come to Vallarta to share their expertise. The numbers of social media users are growing exponentially in Mexico and around the world. Businesses today cannot afford to miss listening to their customers. And at the same time it's a huge opportunity to create an authentic, personal relationship with your clients especially for those of us who work in internationally in tourism and real estate," explains Robert Dry, Rental Director for Vallarta Escapes, the conference organizer.
The growing excitement for social media marketing has spurred Puerto Vallarta's very own chapter of the Social Media Club, booming across Mexico and attracting a world-wide membership.
Tweet to Be Heard 3 is happening in fall of 2011, and promises to engage both social media novices and advanced marketers. A one-day seminar in Spanish is being planned for August.
