Washington, D.C. – Overseas Vote Foundation (OVF) and US Vote Foundation (US Vote) launched the fifth General Election round of post election voter surveys on Election Day.
This year’s updated 2012 Post Election Voter Surveys have been sent to approximately 110,000 overseas and military absentee voters and 10,000 domestic voters. The online surveys will be open until December 31, 2012 and results will be released at the annual OVF/US Vote Summit conference in Washington D.C. on January 24, 2013.
The OVF survey of military and overseas voters has been designed to capture crucial voter feedback and trend information regarding the effects of the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act. A core issue that will be examined is whether ballot timeliness, receipt, and return rates have been improved with new online ballot delivery systems that were implemented under the Federal Voting Assistance Program’s EASE grants valued at $27 million.
The OVF post election surveys have emerged over the past 8 years as the most reliable information resource for congress and the election community when considering overseas and military voting issues and improvements.
While this is OVF’s fifth post election survey directed at the American overseas community, this distribution marks the first year that the research will expand to include domestic absentee balloting experiences. US Vote Foundation was launched in January of 2012.
"Results from previous OVF surveys have supported much needed electoral reform at the federal level, including the MOVE Act, and technical improvements at the state level. Through US Vote, OVF aims to support the actionable improvements to the domestic absentee balloting processes that we have done with overseas absentee balloting," said Dr. Claire Smith, OVF’s Director of Research.
