Boca De Iguanas: More Eco-Building In Mexico Deidre Woollard - luxist.com
Boca de Iguanas is located 40 minutes north of Manzanillo International Airport along the Costalegre on Mexico's Pacific Coast. The development features 20 single family homes, 60 condos, a beach club, restaurant and a boutique hotel on 18 acres of beach real estate.
The boutique hotel is set to open in the fall and is home to 10 suites with contemporary Mexican design and 40 rustic cabanas hidden in the hills. The Alma spa, a holistic wellness spa featuring healing therapies and yoga is planned for next spring.
Like other resort developments we have seen, Boca de Igaunas, which is the first mixed-use project for Moksa Development, a Mexican corporation under the guidance of Californian Robert M. Oveson, has an eco angle. The gated community plans to utilize alternative clean energy sources including ndividual solar power arrays for electricity and solar heated water for each home and underground utilities, all situated around a rmangrove ecosystem that flows through the property.
The mangrove ecosystem helps prevent soil erosion and is nesting and shelter for a variety of animals. The community also has gray water recycling systems and an onsite sewage treatment plant.
The stand-alone "green" homes start at 3,000 sq. ft. and $375,000 and there are both full ownership and fractional ownership (1/6th shares) available. |
