2008 Real Estate Meetings and Conferences

The Settlement Company's John K. Glaab, a Certified International Property Specialist and a founding member of AMPI Los Cabos, tells us about some upcoming Real Estate meetings and conferences of national and international interest.
Following is an update of meetings and conferences of national and international interest for the rest of 2008 (and notice of two events planned for early 2009.)
The American International Real Estate Expo and Conference (AIREEC) will be held September 5-7th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. AIREEC California is a continuation of its ground-breaking maiden event in Manila in December, 2008. It is expected to have an estimated 10,000 attendees from around the world. Linda Neil, Founder of Mexico's The Settlement Company will be a featured speaker. The same weekend, she will travel to San Antonio, Texas to address a meeting of the International Operations Committee of the Texas Association of Realtors. AIREEC represents a great networking opportunity for investors and others in the real estate industry.
Texas Trade Mission to Mexico This event is historic, the first Trade Mission to Mexico from the National Association of Realtors. More than 100 NAR members, mostly from Texas, will join approximately 400 Mexican Association of Professional realtors (AMPI) in an event called "Business Beyond Borders." It will be held simultaneously with the Guadalajara AMPI Section's Forum, one of the largest in Mexico. Mark the dates, September 25-27th.
Expo Bienes Raices This is the 7th edition of a real estate, education and trade show produced by TRADEX, Mexico's largest producer of trade shows. It will be held in Mexico, D.F. at the Word Trade Center from September 25th through the 27th.
Baja California Meeting Point This event will be held in Tijuana, October 15th - 18th. Realtors from California and the Mexican States surrounding the Sea of Cortes will meet to network and exchange ideas. This years' meeting is called, "Baja and Sea of Cortes Tourism Investment Summit and Real Estate Expo." There will be a Regional Meeting of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) and the meeting will be addressed by Arq. Sergio Duenas, National President of AMPI. October 18th has been designated as Realtor's Day. One of the subjects on the Agenda is Cross Border referrals.
Realtors Conference & Expo This year's annual National Association of Realtors will be held in Orlando Florida. The dates are November 7th-10th. Last year's 50th Anniversary conference drew 30,000 attendees. It was marked by the largest contingent of International members to ever attend an NAR conference. Mexico will have its day on November 9th, in the International Network Center. Mexican Realtors will be able to promote their products to the world. Also in the Center on that day will be representatives from Brazil, Chile, Portugal and Spain. As usual, Stewart Title will have its technology center where you can learn everything from building your own website to how to improve your expertise with digital cameras.
Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) XXXVIIth Congreso The annual conference, General Meeting and trade show will be held at Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo November 17th-22nd. One of the highlights will be the offering of NAR courses. In addition to AMPI members from across the Republic others will attend from NAR Panama and several Caribbean countries.
2009 EVENTS
Second Annual Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo Real Estate Fair, sponsored by "Another Day in Paradise" magazine and The Settlement Company, will include a trade show and several real estate classes. Stay tuned for dates.
Cedula Exam Ceneval, a section of the Mexican department of education, will offer the second opportunity for those in the real estate industry to take the Cedula Professional exam. The exact date in February to be confirmed.
 John Glaab has been a member of NAR's International Section for over a decade. He has earned the Certified International Property Specialist designation and is a founding member of AMPI Los Cabos.
