ConfiCasa's November 2008 Newsletter includes an article recently published by The News out of Mexico City. Here is an excerpt for those that have not yet seen the article, which discusses current advances in the Mexico mortgage market as well as its significant growth despite the U.S. and global economic turmoil.
Mexico's Restricted Areas Prove Accessible for U.S. Lenders
Mexico's coastlines are starting to look less and less like "forbidden zones" to foreign home buyers now that U.S. lenders are stepping in to ease the process and work around restrictive bureaucracy.
Companies like Conficasa, a Chicago-based lender that focuses on new developments in Mexico, find a U.S. institution willing to give a mortgage for a property in Mexico and help satisfy the legal requirements for owning property near the coast.
"We have seen immense growth in demand for our services over the last two years, even in the face of the credit crunch," said Matt Miller, Conficasa's president and CEO. "People are becoming more educated about the market, and brokers like us can close loans much faster than before."
