Mexican Housing: Ikea-Style Reuters
Mexican homebuilder Geo is set to open two automated facilities which will produce 1,000 prefabricated homes a month.
CEO Luis Orvananos, speaking at the 2009 Latin American Investment Summit in Mexico City, says the homes, which are aimed at entry-level homebuyers can be constructed "in 4 hours, with 3 workers and 1 crane" once the prefabricated slabs and walls are delivered to the location where the home will be erected.
