Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - HGTV captured the considerable natural beauty and local culture of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in a recent episode of its popular show, Beachfront Bargain Hunt, which explored the growing real estate market in one of Mexico's finest Pacific coast resort towns.
"Beachfront property dreams can come true, even on the tightest budget," writes HGTV in a press release. "In 'Beachfront Bargain Hunt,' home seekers set out to find sanctuary in the sand without breaking the bank."
In this episode titled 'Bargain Hunting Puerto Vallarta,' a U.S. couple living in Atlanta, Georgia, is looking for a condominium with views of Banderas Bay and the Pacific Ocean that is located in or around Puerto Vallarta. They viewed properties in the main city, as well as in the communities of Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerķas and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, which are located just north of downtown Puerto Vallarta.
The episode originally aired this fall for limited audiences, but will be shown again on Wednesday, December 24 and on Sunday, January 4, 2015.
In the show, the couple looked at four different potential vacation homes in Puerto Vallarta and had to meet a budget of between $275,000 and $300,000. After falling in love with the culture and atmosphere of this vibrant region, they were looking for plenty of space and knew they also definitely wanted to be just a few steps from the beach. They also wanted a nice mix of privacy and proximity to the action in town, as well as ample space for entertaining when friends and family come to visit.
"If you drive to the closest beach from [our home in] Atlanta it's five hours," states property hunter Scott on the show. "We can hop on a plane and be in Puerto Vallarta in three and a half. So you do the math."
The couple also visited the nearby Los Arcos marine park area on the show, which is a protected area and bird sanctuary in the southern portion of Banderas Bay that is comprised of large stones protruding from the sea. "This colorful beach resort is energized by endless activities, crystal clear aquamarine waters and natural historic beauty," states HGTV when describing Puerto Vallarta.
After viewing four properties ranging in price from $175,000-230,000 USD, the couple ultimately decided to buy two of the four condos, including an intimate one bedroom for $72,000 that is located just one block from the ocean right in the heart of Puerto Vallarta's Zona Romantica, or "Romantic Zone," as well as a stunning larger property with stunning ocean views, a private terrace and several bedrooms that is located nearby for $200,000 USD. "Puerto Vallarta is a great place to visit or to live," shared Scott. "You can't get enough of it."
