In this episode, Laura Gelezunas and the Kitchenettes show us how to make a sweet salsa and a tangy margarita from the kitchen of Casa Gloria, a condo in the Punta Negra Complex on Punta Negra Beach, just south of downtown Puerto Vallarta.

Living in the tropical climate of Puerto Vallarta offers many perks, and one of the them is being able to buy locally grown, fresh fruits and vegetables year round. All of these fresh ingredients serve as inspiration for Laura, so without further ado, let's get started!

Recipe: Fruity Salsa

2 cups finely diced cantaloupe
1/4 cup finely diced red onion
2 tablespoons fresh basil or cilantro, finely chopped
2 small serrano chiles, finely chopped, if you don't want it too spicy, remove the seeds
2 tablespoons lime juice
1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Mix together and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before serving.

Recipe: Grapefruit Margarita

1 ounce lime juice
2 tablespoons simple syrup
1 jalapeño, remove seeds if you don't want the extra heat
2 ounces grapefruit juice
1.5 ounces tequila of your choice

Put about 8 oz of ice in a blender, then add the rest of the ingredients and blend well.
