Puerto Vallarta - At last Wednesday's Local Celebrity Charity Night, guest hostess Pamela Thompson, together with the Banana Cantina team, our friends and our customers, raised $10,535 Pesos for Marcos, a nine-year-old boy living in the New Life Mexico Street Boys Center who was hospitalized 2 weeks ago suffering from complications caused by malnutrition.
Marcos has been transferred to Guadalajara, where the head of the pediatric neurology department is personally overseeing his care. At this time we are waiting to hear the results from the spinal fluid that was taken.
Phillipa told me that Marcos was able to choose his care workers and there are two that take shifts, so he is never alone. Being in the hospital, all the tests, blood work, etc., is frightening, so we are grateful for these two ladies. Banana Cantina is still accepting donations to help cover his hospitalization fees.
On Wednesday, December 10, Lee Bright and Kai Brown will host bANANaCANtiNA Charity Night to raise funds for Gib Hauersperger. Gib has been a concierge in Vallarta for many years and is known and loved by many.
Gib has a life threatening illness and he needs our help with all the expenses this entails, so, for the first time ever, bANANaCANtiNA Charity Night will feature a set menu for just $200 pesos per person, a portion of which will be donated back, as will 10% of beverage sales. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, with 50% of the proceeds going towards Gib's expenses and the winner receiving the other 50%, donations from Cassandra Shaw Jewelry, Encuentros and movie tickets from Mano a Mano - not to mention lots of fun!
Because of his many connections to all the fun things to do and great places to eat in Puerto Vallarta, Gib has procured donations for many Charity Nights over the years, so please join us next Wednesday night to give back to him what he has so freely given to others in their time of need.
