Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Vallarta's favorite Mexican Restaurant, El Arrayán, voted "Best Mexican" in Banderas Bay for the last four years in a row by a landslide in the Vallarta Lifestyle Reader's Choice Awards and recently awarded the coveted AAA Three-Diamond Award, will once again be sharing a few of their secrets during a series of upcoming cooking classes this summer.

On one day each month, a limited number of participants will join Carmen Porras, Chef Mariano Valdez and their team for breakfast, visiting local purveyors, hands-on cooking instruction and then enjoying what they've cooked.

The fee for this fabulous introduction to El Arrayán's award-winning Mexican cooking techniques and ingredients is $85 USD cash per-person (tips included.) The fee for these popular cooking classes have not changed in over four years and includes breakfast, transportation in an air-conditioned van, class participation, take-home printed recipes, an embroidered apron and a full meal (including unlimited cocktails.) Classes will be conducted in English in El Arrayán's all stainless steel professional kitchen.

Here is the summer schedule through September of 2009:

Tuesday, July 28, 2009 10 am-3:30 pm
Mushroom and Zucchini Blossom Soup, Classic Mole Poblano, Red Rice and Cajeta Flan

Tuesday, August 18, 2009 10 am-3:30 pm

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 10 am-3:30 pm
Ceviche Colima, Chile en Nogada and Flan de Chocolate

Since opening in November of 2003, El Arrayán has won the hearts and taste buds of Banderas Bay. "The entire team at El Arrayán aims to prepare the best traditional Mexican cuisine in Puerto Vallarta," exclaims Carmen Porras, owner of El Arrayán.

"Along with the creations of Chef Mariano Valdez, this young team's goal is to deliver the best quality food in the Bay. Guests have had a great time in past cooking classes and keep asking for more. By leading the Slow Food movement in Banderas Bay, spreading the education of taste and linking producers of excellent foods to consumers is a key goal for us and separates us from other cooking classes around the bay. These cooking classes have proven to be a perfect Slow Food activity."

Space is limited so call (322) 222-7195 today. (Classes will only take place with a minimum of five participants.)

Come see why El Arrayán was voted Puerto Vallarta's favorite Mexican Restaurant the past four years in a row. Located at #344 Allende, just a short stroll up from the Malécon in El Centro, El Arrayán is open Wednesday-Monday (closed Tuesday) from 6 pm to 11 pm. For reservations, please call (322) 222-7195.
