Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Last plane to Victoria! Nicole Martin, PuRR Project volunteer extraordinary, already had both hands full taking two lucky rescue pups with her to Victoria, BC, on the last direct flight of the season, when the call came.
Marj Dueck's kids, 9-yr old Kara and 12-yr old Ryan, had heard about all the kittens in need of homes at our shelter and decided they HAD to adopt one each! Luckily, West Jet had 2 spaces left in cargo and Nicole nabbed them.
Then it was a flurry of sending photos of possible choices and they were quickly narrowed down to two. Kara choose little "Ginny" (now Roxy), one of the six-pack of tiny calicos we rescued last December and featured on our newsletter masthead.
Ryan originally had his heart set on a baby kitty but after his mom explained that they needed to be old enough to have their vaccinations and be neutered before being offered for adoption, he did an about-face and opted for a beautiful gray & white female that had been passed over for adoption for a few months already.
"Lolita" has been renamed Bella and Marj reports everyone has settled in nicely and Diesel the dog is patiently waiting for them to play with him! Their 20-year old kitty, Moka, is cuddling with them in their bed and it's now a very happy Dueck family!
Miau is the pup rescued by PuRR Project when she showed up at the shelter gate, frightened & starving. She is now a confident young lady and ready for a new home in Canada. The white poodle, Eli, was found abandoned at a local construction site and had obviously been badly abused. After some much grooming and some good loving here in Vallarta, Eli is now being fostered in Victoria by Karen Tucker who is accepting applications for adoption.
Purr Project is a Non-Profit shelter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal to adopt them out to loving homes. All of our residents have been sterilized, vaccinated and are disease free. We accomplish this through our own efforts as well as collaboratively with other animal welfare organizations. Both monetary donations as well as donations of dry cat food are most welcome – and much appreciated.
