Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The popular and now traditional Toys for Tots Vallarta Golf Tournament and Gala Dinner fundraising events were successfully held last weekend at the Vista Vallarta Weiskopf course and the Marriott CasaMagna Resort in Marina Vallarta.
Both events have now became much-anticipated traditions in the Banderas Bay region, as their main goal is to raise funds to purchase toys and deliver them to low income kids on Día de los Reyes (Three Kings Day.) Traditionally in Mexico, Three Kings Day is gift-giving time, rather than Christmas day.
Celebrate annually on January 10th, Three Kings Day is a celebration that commemorates the Biblical story of the three kings who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the Christ child. According to the story, the Three Kings – Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar – presented the Baby Jesus with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Here in Vallarta, each and every year, CasaMagna Marriott Resort, The Navy League and local businesses join forces to distribute thousands of toys to children throughout the states of Jalisco and Nayarit who would not receive a gift without Toys for Tots Vallarta.
At this year's fund raisers, more than $375,000 pesos were raised and, thanks to the fact that both events were 100% donated by sponsors Vista Vallarta Golf Club and CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, all of the funds collected are destined to the purchase of toys.
Over the last twelve years, Toys For Tots Vallarta has distributed more than 100,000 toys and installed playgrounds in areas of need. Thanks to the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort, the Puerto Vallarta Navy League and sponsors like ATM Rivercity whom, for the second year in a row, donated $50,000 pesos to this cause, Toys For Tots Vallarta will once again make the dreams of many local children come true.
On January 5th and 6th more than 7,000 toys will arrive at the hotel, where they will be sorted and stored for distribution to the most needy communities in the Banderas Bay region - from Cabo Corrientes to Riviera Nayarit - on the first school day following Three Kings Day.
