Vallarta's New Ongoing Mexican Fiesta Announced

November 16, 2012

Puerto Vallarta’s Tourism Bureau along with many other sponsors have announced a new, bi-weekly Fiesta Mexicana, to take place on alternating Wednesdays at Lázaro Cárdenas Plaza in Colonia Emiliano Zapata.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Vallarta Centro A.C. association, in conjunction with Jalisco’s Tourism Secretary, Puerto Vallarta’s Tourism Bureau, and the municipality’s Tourism and Culture Departments, has announced a new, bi-weekly Fiesta Mexicana, to take place on alternating Wednesday evenings at Lázaro Cárdenas Plaza in Colonia Emiliano Zapata, beginning November 21st.

The idea for the event originated with a request from Vacances Air Transat, a Canadian charter company, seeking support from our destination to promote the Banderas Bay area among potential Canadian tourists. The initial event was held as a private, pilot celebration, and was such a huge success that all involved parties decided to turn it into an ongoing fiesta.

Each event will feature free musical and dance performances by local ensembles, along with affordable food and beverages provided by local restaurants, such as Le Kliff, Daiquiri Dick’s, Café des Artistes, Coco’s Kitchen, The River Café, and several others. The idea is to capture the overall spirit of a Mexican fiesta - from the menus featuring local Mexican cuisine, to the games typical of traditional Mexican carnivals.

Access to the event is free but food and beverages must be purchased. The fiestas are from 7 pm until 11 pm and the current schedule includes the following dates:

• November 21st
• December 5th & 19th
• January 2nd, 16th, & 30
• February 13th & 27th
• March 13th & 27th
• April 10th & 24th

Vallarta Centro is an organization comprised by ten small hotels in Puerto Vallarta’s El Centro and Emiliano Zapata neighborhoods, grouped together for successful cross-promotion through cultural events, festivals, and social media campaigns.

Organizers hope the event will remain self-sustainable thanks to ongoing sponsors and volunteers. For more information, please email Liney Cornejo at lineycornejo(at)gmail.com or Martha Dau at marthadau(at)vallartacentro.com.
