The Blunt Truth on Women's Heart Disease JOY! - PVNN
| A rally on Olas Altas turned the streets of Puerto Vallarta red on Friday, when over 120 people dressed in red gathered in front of salon blu by Len to raise awareness of women's heart disease and heart health as part of the American Heart Association's Go Red Campaign. (Photo by Ken Harbour) | | The blunt truth about how one in three women kill themselves every year.
Heart disease didn't become the number one killer of women overnight. It took more than a generation for women to catch up to men and start actively killing themselves in this way.
And they ARE killing themselves, with a brutal method of not so slow suicide. You can wrap it up in fancy packaging and say it so it's easier to swallow, but what the statistics boil down to is that most women, and men, are dying because they don't know how to live.
An unhealthy lifestyle results in a shortened life.
People aren't stupid, they know this is the case, they just don't know how to give themselves any real choice in the matter. They are caught in a cycle that has been proven to lead to disease and death and they don't know how to break that cycle, so they ignore it, and try to pretend everything will be fine.
They are so busy looking after everyone and everything else that they don't look after themselves. Most treat their cars better than their bodies, they at least pay attention to the oil warning light when it comes on, realizing it means that unless they stop and give that car what it needs, the engine is eventually going to seize.
Every pain in your body is some kind of signal; your body doesn't send you warnings for no reason! Ignoring those pains, those signals, or masking them with drugs because you don't like the message, will eventually cause your engine to seize. It is as simple as that.
But they don't stop and attend to the warnings, or ingest the kind of fuel their bodies need to function at optimal, they don't give themselves a clean healthy diet. They don't believe they have time to eat anything other than fast, fried or microwaved food with negative nutritional value.
The body is as clear as it can be, offering signals like indigestion, heart burn, obesity, sluggishness, fatigue, high cholesterol, diabetes etc. Instead of listening, instead of honoring their body's basic needs, they continue to put dirty fuel in the tank, and throw a bunch sugar on top. This eventually causes the same results in the body as it would be in a car.
If you do not take care of your body it will not last.
People are so busy running around in their cars that they don't take time to walk. They know they need to get more exercise, they probably even joined a gym, but they rarely find time or energy to go. Instead they plop down in front of a television after a long exhausting day, and watch news programs that terrify and dishearten them.
They have forgotten how to relax, how to make time, find peace, experience joy. Their lives are dictated by clocks and schedules, bills and deadlines and other people's wants and needs.
People know they shouldn't smoke or do drugs or drink excessive amounts of alcohol, but too often these Russian Roulette games are the only things that provide the illusion of getting off the treadmill, if even for a moment. They don't know how else to escape, they don't know how to give themselves what they need, so they 'reward themselves' for a hard week's work with a hard night partying. This also has predictable effects on the body.
The human body is an intelligent organic entity that requires sensible care and ongoing maintenance in order to function effectively.
People these days live under enormous stress generated by everything from impending war and climatic changes to worrying about making ends meet and ensuring their kids have a better life.
They don't know how to clear this stress and so they suppress it, and keep creating more. Their stress levels are so constant that they have come to believe the way they feel and act is part of an acceptable lifestyle, and the worst thing is, they are right. This insane lifestyle has become so accepted that despite the outrageous death toll this road takes, people continue to travel it because they don't know another way to go.
They believe changing what they are doing will be too hard, will take too much time / money / effort, and their reserves have been so exhausted by their current lifestyle that they simply don't have the energy to do something different. They don't think they can manage a big change.
Don't worry about making big changes Just make tiny changes that will make a big difference.
Nourish your body; when you feel hungry, instead of asking "What do I want to eat?" ask "What would most benefit my body right now?"
Make dinner a time to share with your loved ones, turn the television off and talk about the best thing that happened to you today, share something that you learned.
Make play dates with your friends to take brisk walks in beautiful places that nourish your spirit. Go dancing, take up yoga or Tai Chi or some exercise you know you will enjoy and want to keep doing.
