The US Consular Agent, the Hotel Marriott and HealthCare Resources Puerto Vallarta would like to remind everyone of the upcoming Medical Expo on November 22, 2010 from 9 am until 7 pm being held at the Hotel Marriott. This is most definitely something folks will want to mark on their calendars and attend!
This no-charge event will feature a vast array of medical services, exhibiting their products and giving information on services. Meet physicians, ask questions, learn about local labs and diagnostic centers, hospitals – anything and everything to do with your health and well-being. There will be mini-presentations given throughout the day as well as some healthy cooking classes.

Monday, November 22, 2010
11:00 am – Dr. Greg Middleton (from UCSD Medical Center) – "You and Your Arthritis – Towards Happily Ever After"
Dr Middleton, an associate clinical professor rheumatologist specializing in the non-surgical care of patients with joint and muscle pain, particularly associated with rheumatological disorders such as osteoarthritis, will provide an overview of recent advances in the understanding of the causes of arthritis, as well as its associated pain and difficulty functioning, but most importantly lots of things that you can do to get better.
12:00 noon – Dr. Lawrence Fiedman (from UCSD Medical Center) – "Health Care Reform"
Lawrence Friedman M.D., who became the first Medical Director of Ambulatory and Primary Care at UCSD in 1998, will outline some of the key features of Health Care Reform and some of the ways it may affect all attendees. He will focus on the factors leading up to reform and what patients might expect over the next several years as Health Care Reform is implemented. This will be a practical presentation with an attempt to simplify an often misunderstood and sometimes complicated topic.
1:15 pm – Dra. Leslie Swindle and Dr. Adolfo Curiel – "What’s New in Cardiology"
Puerto Vallarta-based doctors Leslie Swindle, who received her medical training in Mexico City at the Universidad Anhuac, the Hospital Español de Mexico and Centro Medico Siglo XX1 with post-graduate training at Mass General Hospital in Boston, and Adolfo Curiel, who attended medical school at the Universidad de Guadalajara and his cardiology specialty training in Mexico City at Centro Medico la Raza, will examine "What’s New in Cardiology."
2:00 pm – Dr. Ken Griffiths (from UCSD Medical Center) – "Aging and Sexual Health"
Dr. Ken Griffiths, a clinical associate professor in department of family and preventive medicine at UCSD and a board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, will explore the influence of aging and chronic medical conditions on sexual function and relationships. The risks of sexually transmitted infections will also be reviewed.
3:00 pm – Dr. Daniel Velasco and Dra. M. Cuevas – "What’s New in Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis"
4:00 pm – Dr. Armando Joya – "What’s New in Bariatric Surgery-Gastric Surgery"
5:00 pm – Dr. Lawrence Friedman (From UCSD Medical Center) – "Health Care Reform"
