House Hunters Int'l Seeks Sun, Sea, Sand, and Real Estate in Puerto Vallarta
Part One: How it Came to Be

Back in September 2011, my broker Carl Timothy asked to speak with me in his office. I thought it was going to be a routine morning chat about the current real estate market, a new client, or an update on one of the developments we represent.

Well, to my surprise, it was none of the above. As it turns out, the producers of House Hunters International had been communicating with Carl for a while about filming an episode in Puerto Vallarta and showcasing his firm, Timothy Real Estate Group.

Carl asked for my take on it. I immediately felt this was an incredible opportunity, not just for the company and our real estate industry, but also for the city of Puerto Vallarta itself. I couldn't think of a better way to promote Vallarta, show it's natural beauty and share information about our real estate market, than a hugely popular television show that is seen by millions and millions of people all around the world. Not to mention, I'm one of those millions that watches the show and dreams of owning a piece of property in some of those incredible cities. What better way to attract positive media and support our local community? So, without hesitation, I said to Carl "Let's do it, let's put the spotlight on Vallarta!" With that, were off and running.

Over the course of the next few weeks we had our work cut out for us. Considering neither Carl nor I had done anything like this before, we realized we were in for the entertaining experience of a lifetime. Are we truly ready for this? Are we in over our heads? Are we going to do Puerto Vallarta justice? I'm crossing my fingers and diving in!

Our first objective was to find buyers suitable for the show based on the guidelines given to us by the casting agent. Timothy Real Estate Group has an extensive roaster of wonderful clients, so it wasn't too long before we found a few buyers that would have been great candidates for the show.

Once we contacted buyers we thought would fit the guidelines, we handed them over to the show's producers. In the coming weeks clients went through their screening process with the production company and before you knew it, a final decision was made... On October 27, Zapher & Derick, and I were approved to appear in the very first episode of House Hunters International to ever be filmed in Puerto Vallarta.
