Natalia Diaz Crowned 2012 Fiestas Patrias Queen

The City of Puerto Vallarta enthusiastically started the 2012 Independence Day celebration on Sunday, September 9th with a beauty pageant in which Miss Natalia Diaz was crowned the 2012 Fiestas Patrias Queen by Mayor Salvador Gonzalez Resendiz.

During a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of the National Fisheries Institute, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Mayorga announced that Mexico is purchasing its first deep-water fisheries and oceanographic research vessel at a cost of roughly $460 million pesos.

Hotel occupancy in Puerto Vallarta increased by 10% this summer season and doubled Mexico’s hotel occupancy growth rate of 4% with an 8.97% increase according to SECTUR. The destination had a hotel occupancy rate of 71.75% during this year's summer season, up from 62.18% in 2011.
