Nine years after its inception, the 'Conduce Sin Alcohol' (Drive Without Alcohol) program has led to a 70 percent decrease in the number of alcohol-related accidents in Mexico City. The mobile checkpoint program was created due to the number of accidents caused by drunk drivers.

Two people were arrested in Mexico as they attempted to traffic the more than 22,000 olive ridley sea turtle eggs they were carrying on a public bus. The arrest was made on a highway in the southern state of Oaxaca by officers patrolling beaches where the turtles nest.
