Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - On June 4th Puerto Vallarta's Old Town Farmer's Market will finish an incredibly successful second season, so be sure and join us to stock up before we close.

From November through May over 32,000 customers shopped at the market and 114 vendors showcased their products. Awareness of the market spread like wildfire, with over 150,000 Google listings in English, Spanish and French. News about the market appeared on literally thousands of websites, blogs and newspapers, from Mexico to Canada and the USA to Europe.

In addition to many locally based websites and newspapers, such as the Vallarta Tribune, PV Mirror, BanderasNews, PV Pulse, Vallarta Lifestyles and Vallarta Today, coverage has been diverse, with Internet articles appearing on Trip Advisor, Expedia, Green Travel, Journey Mexico and Lonely Planet.

The Old Town Farmers' Market's primary objective is to provide a place where local entrepreneurs can market their products directly to the public. For a product to be approved for sale at the market, a vendor must make it, bake it or grow it locally. No reselling of products is allowed. With little capital investment vendors have an opportunity to test their ideas on the public, and a number of vendors have gone on to create successful storefronts in Vallarta.

This season the market's hours were extended, giving shoppers an additional hour each Saturday. While shopping, crowds were delighted by live entertainment provided by local musicians and dancers. New vendors joined regularly, and this season's new products included cut flowers, fresh squeezed juices, award winning chili, coconut based ice cream, corn dogs, antique spoon jewelry, custom made clothing, hand drawn maps, kites, body products, hand rolled cigars and doggie treats.

Puerto Vallarta's non-profit organizations got a boost from appearing at the market, selling tickets to their events and generating buzz for their causes. These included the Biblioteca Los Mangos, P.E.A.C.E., Pasitos de Luz, the Puerto Vallarta Navy League, the International Friendship Club and the Bomberos (our local fire fighters and lifeguards). It was heart warming to watch both the SPCA and Purr Project find good homes for numerous shelter animals among market attendees.

Through June 4th, visit us from 10 to 2 pm, at the Old Town Farmer's Market, located at Pulpito #127 (across from Coco's Restaurant), as the Paradise Community Center comes alive with the sights and smells of a good, old fashioned market.
