Mexico has seven chapters: Lake Chapala, Metropolitan Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, Mazatlan, Veracruz, Young Democrats in Mexico City, and Costa Banderas.
 With country committees and local chapters in over 80 countries around the world, Democrats Abroad is the official Democratic Party organization for the millions of Americans living outside the United States.
 Democrats Abroad:
 • Keeps Americans abroad informed on political issues and developments, through regular meetings, educational programs, special events, and newsletters;
 • Lobbies the White House, Congress, and state governments on issues of concern to Americans residing abroad, including national and international issues;
 • Motivates and registers voters, provides absentee ballot assistance, and organizes primary voting for Americans abroad; • Elects and sends a voting delegation to the Democratic National Convention;
 • Elects eight members to the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Party's governing body in Washington, DC.
 First organized in November 2007, the Costa Banderas Chapter of Mexico Democrats Abroad now counts more than 200 members. The chapter represents US citizens residing in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, as well as in the emerging, new gringo "colonies" located just to the north of the well-known tourist resort in the state of Nayarit.
