Even though most everyone agrees that education is the key to living a productive and satisfying life and that it should be available to every child, that is not always the case for Puerto Vallarta kids.
Many come from single parent homes, homes with five, six or more children or homes where the breadwinner makes only enough to provide the very basics of life. Those circumstances make it impossible for the children, no matter how bright and eager to learn, to continue their education past the mandated junior high.
That is where Becas Vallarta, A.C. and the America-Mexico Foundation, Inc. come in. Together they have sponsored thousands of young Vallartenses through junior high, high school, university and even medical school.
Becas Vallarta, A.C. is a non-profit, tax-deductible Mexican foundation charged with fund raising and administering the scholarships program for students in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. The America-Mexico Foundation, Inc., founded in 1961, is a non-profit USA tax deductible foundation (under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code) that donates all funds raised to finance those scholarships.
 These two non-profit organizations have as their only purpose raising funds to provide scholarships for as many Puerto Vallarta students as possible. Working with no office, no telephone, no computers or copiers, these organizations manage to meet the budget of over $100,000 USD each year. All of this is done by volunteers - Mexican, Canadian and American - working in harmony to make Puerto Vallarta, and yes the world, a better place by having an educated populace.

Puerto Vallarta's Who's Who recently gathered at Club Regina for the 2018 Becas Ball to help raise funds for students with great potential and limited resources. This year's event had an Austrian Royalty theme, so Kaiser Maximilian owner Andreas Rupprechter helped design the menu.

Becas Vallarta is Changing Lives Through Education, and you can help the children of Vallarta go to school while 'having a ball,' at this year's Becas Ball. The evening will be held on March 4 at the Westin Regina and will begin at 6 pm with cocktails provided by the Four Seasons Hotel Punta Mita.

On March 4, Puerto Vallarta's Who's Who will gather at Club Regina in Marina Vallarta for the 2016 Becas Ball to help raise funds for students with great potential and almost no financial assets. This year's theme is 'Viva Oaxaca' and will feature traditional Oaxacan food and entertainment.

The date for this year's Becas Ball is earlier than usual, February 28, a night that promises to be a beautiful moonlit evening by the sea at the Club Regina in the Marina, Puerto Vallarta. The fun begins at 6:00 pm in the garden with the theme 'Casablanca, Morocco.'
Becas Vallarta to Deliver $786,000 in Scholarships

Becas Vallarta is kicking off the new year with the first delivery of scholarships, which will distribute $786,000 pesos amongst 252 and high school and college students for the first cycle of the 2015 school year. The event will be held on February 7th at Los Mangos Library.

Becas Vallarta Changing Lives Through Education

Becas Vallarta volunteers recently handed out $900,000 pesos in scholarships to middle school, high school and college students at Los Mangos Library. According to the President of the non-profit association, Mariel Fregoso, 409 young people from various institutions were benefited.

Becas Vallarta's first breakfast of the new year will be held on Wednesday, January 15th at 9:30 am at Daiquiri Dick's Restuarant on Playa Los Muertos. Tickets are only $150 pesos and must be purchased or reserved in advance with any member of Becas Vallarta.
