| Christmas Arrangement by Floart | | More than 150 Becas supporters turned out at 9:30 am on December 16, 2009 to breakfast on delicious sweet rolls, fresh fruit, machaca or vegetarian omelet and of course coffee or tea. River Café Proprietor Evangelina Sanchez Dueñas, her talented chef Victor Arceo, her hard working manager Michael Boufford, her new marketing manager Claudia Diconca, the entire kitchen and wait staff knocked themselves out to make the second Becas Breakfast of the season a smashing success, amplifying the camaraderie of the attendees.
The room was alive with happy conversations as Becas Compadre Lenny Ambrose, Colorado guest and Becas supporter Tom Lukich, Becas members Cheo Rangel and Sergio Valle moved among the beautifully appointed dining room selling raffle tickets for prizes donated by Archi’s Wok, bANANaCANtiNA, Cassandra Shaw Jewelry, Curves, Daiquiri Dicks, El Arrayán, Glass Galeria EM, Hacienda Jalisco, Hotel Tropicana, Galería June Rosen Lopez, La Palapa Restaurant, La Piazzetta, Los Veranos Canopy Tour, Lucy’s Cucú Cabaña, Marcelo Mico Pilates, Mestizo Restaurant, Vallarta Botanical Gardens, River Cafe, Tikul, Vista Grill and Xocodiva Artisan Chocolates.
Active bidding took place on the silent auction treasures; paintings donated by Juan Ramon Navarro, and Nellie Barquet, two nights of pet sitting by Dog Gone Good Pet Spa, a day trip to Mascota and Talpa by Beyond Vallarta, a fabulous Christmas arrangement of orchids nestled in with bright Christmas ornaments and greenery designed and donated by Maripepa Gonzalez of Florart, a painting by Pam Flores and a black metal candle holder.
With the combined efforts of so many, this delightful event produced enough revenue to insure that twenty of Vallarta’s bright junior high students of great ability and almost no economic resources will have their scholarships paid for another year. How can one beat a hearty and healthy meal served by handsome waiters in a beautiful venue that fills your heart with the joy of knowing that you are helping to change twenty lives of young Vallartenses who with the education you are helping to provide, may change the world? Polly G. Vicars and her husband of almost 60 years, Hubert (a.k.a. "Husband") retired to Puerto Vallarta in 1988 and soon became active members of several charitable organizations.
