PV Hopes to Break Guinness Record for World’s Largest Catrina

From October 27 through November 3, Puerto Vallarta will be celebrating one of Mexico’s most beloved traditions, El Día de Los Muertos. In addition to the exhibition of catrinas and altars on the Malecón, main square and municipal presidency, the city hopes to break the current Guinness record for the 'World's Largest Catrina.'

Orlene Rapidly Strengthens Into a Category 4 Hurricane

At 3:00 am CDT on Sunday, slow-moving Hurricane Orlene evolved into a Category 4 hurricane located 195 km south-southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, and moving north at 7 km/h. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Pacific coast of Mexico from San Blas to Mazatlan. A Hurricane Watch is in effect from Playa Perula to San Blas.

Orlene Strengthens to Hurricane Off Mexico’s Pacific Coast

At 10:00 am CDT, Tropical Storm Orlene evolved into a Category 1 hurricane located 340 km south-southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, and moving north at 7 km/h. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Pacific coast from Playa Perula to San Blas. Orlene is expected to pass just west of Puerto Vallarta from 7 pm Sunday to 7 am Monday.

Tropical Storm Orlene Approaches Western Coast of Mexico

As of 4:00 pm on Friday, September 30, Tropical Storm Orlene was displaying maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h and was located 445 km south-southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco. It is expected to strengthen to a category 1 hurricane early Saturday morning as it approaches the Mexican coast and continues to move northwestward.
