Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The celebrated musical trio CelloVoci will return to Teatro Vallarta on December 30 for Music of the Night, a spectacular one-night-only concert featuring soaring vocals, stunning cello performances, a live chamber orchestra, and theatrical effects. The second annual pops concert promises an unforgettable evening of music as the Banderas Bay community prepares to welcome the New Year.
The 8:00 pm performance brings together three accomplished artists who have made their mark on international stages while building strong connections with Puerto Vallarta audiences. CelloVoci features soprano Effie Passero, known for her appearances on American Idol and with Postmodern Jukebox, alongside Branden James and James Clark, the highly acclaimed duo known as Branden & James.
James, a finalist on America’s Got Talent, previously served as a principal tenor at the Metropolitan Opera. Clark, an Australian cellist, has performed with celebrated artists including Idina Menzel and Olivia Newton-John. Together, the trio’s mixture of powerful vocals and classical instrumentation has earned accolades from NPR Music and audiences worldwide.

The evening will feature New York City drag performer Sutton Lee Seymour as guest host, with musical direction by cabaret star Mark Hartman. Christopher De Ande will oversee stage direction, while a live chamber orchestra of Jalisco musicians and pyrotechnic effects will add to the production.
The concert draws inspiration from CelloVoci’s recent sold-out debut at Carnegie Hall, bringing that ambitious approach to Teatro Vallarta, the city’s premier performing arts venue in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood. The theater’s more than 900 seats will provide the setting for a program that blends beloved classics, contemporary favorites, and theatrical showstoppers.
Audiences can expect music spanning generations and genres, with arrangements of selections from The Phantom of the Opera and The Greatest Showman, along with songs associated with Frank Sinatra, Dolly Parton, Joni Mitchell, Josh Groban, Coldplay, and The Eagles. Additional surprises are planned for the evening.
For Branden & James, the performance also celebrates an enduring relationship with the city. The duo is marking its eleventh season performing in Puerto Vallarta, where local audiences helped expand its international following. Their connection to the community runs deep: the two chose Puerto Vallarta as the location for their 2018 wedding.
Passero, who lives full-time in the Banderas Bay area, has likewise become a familiar presence on the local entertainment scene. Recently named “Best Voice in Puerto Vallarta,” she has earned a reputation for performances that regularly draw full houses. Entertainment Weekly has described her voice as “insanely powerful.”
For Passero, the concert represents more than a major production. It is also a celebration of the community that has supported the trio’s growth.
“I love the residents here. They are my family,” Effie said. “This night is a culmination of all of the blood, sweat, and tears the three of us have put into this beloved city. It will be a joyous celebration with our incredible community as we ring in the New Year and look to brighter times ahead,” she added.
The event is supported by local businesses and community philanthropists, including Casita and Garden, Thrive IV & MedSpa, Let’s Pho Vietnamese Cuisine, and Private Chef Pepe Valtierra.
With its combination of internationally recognized performers, a live orchestra, theatrical staging, and a wide-ranging musical program, Music of the Night is shaping up to be one of Puerto Vallarta’s most notable entertainment events of the holiday season.
The concert takes place Wednesday, December 30, at 8:00 pm at Teatro Vallarta. Tickets and additional information are available at teatrovallarta.com.
