City Opens Call for 2026 Premio Vallarta Nominations

Puerto Vallarta’s City Council has officially approved the guidelines for the 2026 Premio Puerto Vallarta, launching a citywide call to recognize individuals and organizations whose dedication and achievements have made a lasting impact on the community.

During an ordinary session, municipal leaders confirmed that the award aims to celebrate citizens whose experience, talent, and commitment have supported the city’s growth and well-being. The Municipal Government, led by Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González, emphasized the importance of honoring those who contribute to areas such as culture, education, environmental care, tourism promotion, sports, social assistance, art, and economic development.

Residents are encouraged to participate by nominating candidates they believe deserve recognition. Each nomination must include basic information about the nominee, along with testimonials and supporting documents that highlight their achievements and contributions to Puerto Vallarta.

Nominations will be accepted through April 27, 2026, at the offices of the General Secretariat of the City Council, located in the Municipal Presidency (City Hall). All submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by an Advisory Council, which will assess each nomination according to the established criteria.

The Premio Puerto Vallarta will be presented on May 31, 2026, during a formal session of the City Council. Municipal authorities are also encouraging residents to share the call for nominations and review the full guidelines available through official government communication channels.

The award includes several categories that honor achievements across different fields. The Ignacio Luis Vallarta Ogazón category recognizes exemplary service or lifelong dedication that benefits the municipality or its residents. The Francisca Rodríguez Rodríguez category honors distinguished teachers, writers, and contributors to public education.

The Manuel Lepe Macedo category celebrates outstanding accomplishments in the arts, while the Francisco Medina Ascencio category recognizes individuals who have promoted Puerto Vallarta as a tourism destination. Environmental leadership is recognized through the Guadalupe Sánchez Torres category, which highlights those committed to conservation and environmental protection.

Additional categories include those named for Teresa Barba Palomera, Jesús Palacios Robles, Alfonso Díaz Santos, and Agustín Flores Contreras, further expanding opportunities to acknowledge contributions across a wide range of community activities.

Through this annual recognition, Puerto Vallarta continues to highlight the dedication of its residents and organizations, celebrating the people whose efforts help shape a stronger and more connected community.
