
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The eighth edition of the Dama Juana Raicilla Festival is set to take place on March 15 and 16 at the Cuale Cultural Center Esplanade from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm. This event, organized by the Instituto Vallartense de Cultura (IVC), aims to promote and celebrate raicilla, a treasured regional spirit.
Attendees can anticipate an immersive experience, featuring an expo-sale showcasing eighteen distinct raicilla brands. Educational demonstrations will illuminate the traditional distillation process, while insightful talks with master raicilleros will provide a deeper understanding of this ancestral craft.
Further enriching the festival’s atmosphere will be live musical performances and captivating folkloric ballet displays. For those seeking a tangible memento, the exclusive Damajuana Kit will be available for purchase.
Lupita Basulto, director of the IVC, underscored the festival’s commitment to bolstering local producers and entrepreneurs, while also honoring the master raicilleros who safeguard this vital tradition. Councilwoman Laurel Carrillo, representing Municipal President Luis Munguía, emphasized that such cultural initiatives contribute significantly to the city’s revitalization.
Eng. Salvador Galindo, speaking for the Mexican Council for the Promotion of Raicilla A.C., highlighted the festival’s role in preserving cultural heritage. He noted the remarkable progress of raicilla, which has seen its quality improve steadily, allowing it to gain recognition in international markets and attract tourism to the region.
