Fourth Lo de Marcos Festival Cultural, March 11-13

Lo de Marcos, located just north of Puerto Vallarta on the Riviera Nayarit, is a popular weekend getaway for nationals and a favorite beach vacation destination for international tourists. And, this weekend is the perfect time to visit, as this seaside village hosts the Fourth Lo de Marcos Festival Cultural, March 11-13, 2022.

Now in its fourth edition, the festival is an event by the people and for the people of Lo de Marcos, Nayarit. The whole community gets involved by offering workshops, classes, live music, food, a chess tournament, and other games and activities.

The purpose of this totally free festival is to highlight the artists and local talents in this beautiful town, while supporting the local community through the arts.

A big part of the festival is live music, with bands of different genres playing throughout the weekend. There will be many performers and each act will take the stage for about 20 or 30 minutes so that everyone can play.

One such act is Las Flautistas Del Mar – Laura Alderdice, Melody Durso and Andrea Jupina, all of whom play in the Orquesta Sinfonica Vallarta, along Karen Adelehi who, though not a member of the Puerto Vallarta orchestra, is an amazing flautist.

This Classical Flute Quartet will be playing a special program of lovely, lyrical music by the little known and fabulous composer, Joachim Johow, and songs by Claude Debussy, one of the most important composers of the early 20th century, on Sunday, March 13 from 7:00-7:30 pm.

Saturday, March 12 is La Noche de Rap, with performances by Sorner MC, Ivan Andalon, Hans Castellon, TR Nay and Ortsac, starting at 7:30 pm.

Other highlights include Isakoatl, a popular band from Guadalajara that plays progressive metal on pre-Hispanic instruments, Primitnos Surf, and special guest Maktbu.

There will be lots more live music all weekend long… and admission to the festival is free!
