To encourage more people to engage in online shopping, the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO) has organized an annual Hot Sale, the country’s largest online sales campaign, since 2014. This 9-day event promotes e-commerce and showcases its benefits to consumers.

Major retailers and e-commerce sites like Home Depot, Walmart, AeroMexico, MercadoLibre, Elektra, GNC, Telcel, Costco, Comex, Office Depot, Dell, Farmacias Guadalajara, Liverpool, Coppel, Petco, Volaris, and Booking.com are offering significant discounts and exclusive offers.
AMVO president Eric Pérez-Grovas explained that the Hot Sale aims to attract new online shoppers and encourage repeat purchases. According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau, over 50% of internet users have made an online purchase, and 97% plan to do so again.
Similar to “Cyber Monday,” the Hot Sale is the largest annual online shopping event in Latin America. In 2023, the Hot Sale generated 29,949 million pesos in sales, a 29 percent increase from the previous year. It saw 29.2 million units sold, a 54% rise, through 11.1 million purchase orders, averaging 2.6 items per order. The average spending per order was 2,696 pesos, up 66 percent from 2022.
