Inter-municipal Safe Summer Vacation Operation Underway

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – ‘Operation Saving Lives Summer 2022,’ an inter-municipal operation coordinated by the federal authorities of the twelfth naval zone began on Saturday, July 16, and will remain in force until August 28.

The purpose of this operation, in which the security and civil protection bodies of Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas are participating, is to safeguard the lives and ensure the safety of the thousands of national tourists that will be visiting the beaches of Banderas Bay during the summer vacation period.

285 sailors are participating in this operation, providing 24 hour coverage along with navy personnel, lifeguards and medical staff at physical aid and rescue stations on roads, beaches and recreation areas, and patrolling by land and by sea to provide assistance if necessary.

In addition, a total of 20 rescue units, equivalent to four ships, three smaller vessels and 13 land units, will carry out life-saving actions, medical support and maritime and land surveillance.

This is in addition to the municipalities’ Police and Civil Protection units that are working with members of the National Guard.

For emergency situations at sea, the Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico has set up a hot line: 800 MARINA 1 (800 627-4621). Likewise, for emergency attention, the Twelfth Naval Zone offers two 24-hour help lines: 322-221-1123 and 322-224-2352.
