Jalisco Increases Bar, Restaurant and Stadium Capacities

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – With the Covid-19 indicators continuing their downward trend, the Jalisco Board of Health has decided to expand the capacity allowed in stadiums, social events, restaurants and bars.

According to the Board of Health, from August 29 to September 25, hospital occupancy in the State went from 61.4 percent to 38.7. In addition, active cases had a decrease in the last three weeks. There were 9,359 and currently there are, on average, 6,563. The positivity dropped from 27.5 to 17.11 in the same period.

Therefore, as promised to do at the end of September, the Board of Health again reviewed the measures for capacity and cultural activities and it was determined to approve the increase from 33% to 50% of capacity in the Akron and Jalisco stadiums.

According to information released by the Executive Branch, restaurants, which were operating at 50 percent of their capacity, will be able to receive more diners, up to 65%, while bars will go from 25 to 40 percent.

“Social events in closed spaces may have a capacity of 300 people, while those held in open spaces may welcome up to 600 people,” the statement read.

As for cultural events, which will take place in venues such as PALCCO starting in October, will be held with up to 75 percent capacity and in strict adherence to the health protocols established for their activity.

The approved dates are for activities in October; however, the events scheduled for November and December will be subject to review by the Mesa de Salud, which will continue to evaluate the conditions of the pandemic.

Massive events continue to be restricted, as are events that by their nature exceed the capacity established by the Board of Health.
