Mascota-Puerto Vallarta Hwy Repaired

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Traveling from the municipality of Mascota to Puerto Vallarta will now take about one hour and 15 minutes, said Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, after announcing the conclusion of repairs to the Mascota-Las Palmas-Puerto Vallarta section of State Highway 544, which began last year with improvements to 96 kilometers, and an investment of 230 million pesos.

“I am very pleased that we were able to complete one of the largest infrastructure works in terms of road recovery, which we started last year. This was a very important effort because the Mascota-Puerto Vallarta highway was one of the most damaged in Jalisco, it was never properly maintained and in high-risk operating conditions. After this intervention, a road that was once very dangerous to travel is finally as good as new,” the governor explained.

He said that previous conditions on this stretch of highway made travel time longer; Today the trip from Mascota to Puerto Vallarta, passing through San Sebastián del Oeste and the community of Las Palmas, can be made in approximately one hour and 15 minutes.

As part of his tour of the Western Sierra Coast Region, the head of the State emphasized that just as this work has its benefits, so will the six-year construction work for the Talpa de Allende-Llano Grande-Tomatlán highway, which includes 120 kilometers with an investment of 918 million pesos and is 40% complete.

In Mascota, the Governor announced that this municipality will also be benefited with 4 million pesos from the Secretary’s ‘A Toda Máquina’ Paving Program, destined for the repair of 12 deteriorated roads in communities where public works have not been registered for years.

“This project is going to have a great scope, and some of the people who are going to do the work are already here. Those who are in charge of operating the machines in the ‘A Toda Máquina’ program are giving us a lot of support… this is where we see the benefit of having machinery owned by the municipalities,” said Alfaro Ramírez.

Subsequently, the governor presented the renovations that have already been completed at the Mascota Community Hospital, which attends to emergencies and diseases of inhabitants of this and surrounding municipalities. The investment for the rehabilitation of this hospital was 9.71 million pesos.

In addition, a supervisionary tour of the new 10.27 million pesos classroom and laboratory module under construction at the José Mario Molina Pasquel y Henríquez de Mascota Technological Institute was carried out.

The road, educational and health projects are the responsibility of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP), while the paving program is the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER).

The municipal presidents of Mixtlán, Atenguillo, Talpa de Allende, Mascota, San Sebastián del Oeste and Puerto Vallarta, as well as the heads of SIOP, David Zamora Bueno, and SADER, Alberto Esquer, accompanied the Governor on his Friday, September 18 tour of the Western Sierra Coast Region of Jalisco.
