PGA TOUR 2024: Mexico Open at Vidanta Vallarta, February 22-25

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – From February 22 to 25, the Vidanta Vallarta golf course in Nuevo Nayarit will be the scene of the third edition of the Mexico Open. This is the third consecutive time this tournament has appeared on the PGA Tour calendar as an official FedEx Cup event, offering the winner 500 points and a purse of $8.1 million USD.

The field features 132 professional golfers, including defending champion Tony Finau. The American star, boasting six PGA Tour victories, seeks to retain his title at the stunning Vidanta Vallarta course.

This tournament traces its roots back to the 1944 Mexican Golf Open, earning it the distinction of Mexico’s most historic golf event. Over the past two editions, 15 Mexican golfers have proudly participated, and this year promises to be no different.

“As you know, the México Open at Vidanta is a fundamental part of the history of our country. It is the championship that was born 80 years ago and where great national and international figures have won,” commented Fernando Lemmen Meyer, President of the Mexican Golf Federation.

PGA Tour officials applaud the Vidanta Vallarta course, consistently ranked among the tour’s top fairways and overall courses. Its impeccable condition is a testament to year-round maintenance.

Beyond showcasing elite golf and raising Puerto Vallarta’s profile to over 220 countries through international broadcasts, the Mexico Open at Vidanta aspires to be the top tournament of its kind in Mexico and Latin America.

“We’re elevating the experience for attendees and fans this year,” shared Rodrigo Suárez Gilly, tournament executive director. “A curated food and beverage experience complements the sporting action, creating an exclusive and enjoyable event.”

This world-class tournament, presented by Grupo Salinas, brings together PGA Tour vanguardia with Mexico’s rich golfing history, captivating audiences worldwide.
