Puerto Vallarta Restaurants Earn World Culinary Awards Nominations

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta is once again receiving international recognition for its dining scene, with two acclaimed hotel restaurants nominated for the 2026 World Culinary Awards. Gaviotas and Mikado are competing in categories that highlight leading fine dining experiences in Latin America and Mexico.

The World Culinary Awards, a sister program to the World Travel Awards, recognize excellence across the global culinary industry. The awards provide international recognition for restaurants and hospitality businesses distinguished by their food, service and overall dining experiences.

Gaviotas is nominated for Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant in Latin America. The restaurant won the same category in 2025, making its latest nomination another opportunity to build on that recognition. Its AAA Four Diamond rating reflects its continued focus on refined cuisine, quality ingredients and attentive service.

Known for carefully prepared dishes and thoughtful presentation, Gaviotas has established itself as one of Puerto Vallarta’s notable fine dining destinations. Its latest nomination highlights the restaurant’s continued presence on the international culinary stage.

Mikado is nominated for Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant in Mexico. The Japanese restaurant features 14 teppanyaki grills and a sushi bar, offering guests a range of traditional Japanese-inspired dining experiences.

Teppanyaki chefs prepare meals directly in front of diners, combining culinary technique with an engaging presentation. This interactive style has helped make Mikado a distinctive part of Puerto Vallarta’s hotel dining scene.

The nominations also showcase the variety of culinary experiences available throughout Puerto Vallarta. The city’s restaurant industry offers everything from Japanese cuisine and teppanyaki to sophisticated fine dining, attracting visitors seeking memorable meals alongside their coastal vacations.

Voting for the 2026 World Culinary Awards has now closed, so the focus shifts to the announcement of this year’s winners. The 2026 World Culinary Awards Gala Ceremony is scheduled for October 14 at Princess Grand Jamaica.

Regardless of the final results, the nominations place Gaviotas and Mikado among the restaurants receiving international attention this year. They also reinforce Puerto Vallarta’s growing reputation as a culinary destination, with more than 40 types of cuisine represented across approximately 2,000 restaurants.

For a city already known for its beaches, hospitality and tourism attractions, recognition from international culinary organizations provides another reason for food-loving travelers to explore Puerto Vallarta.
