Puerto Vallarta Set for 21 Cruise Ship Arrivals in October

Update: Due to weather conditions, the Coral Princess cruise ship, which was scheduled to arrive on October 2, cancelled its visit.

Puerto Vallarta is preparing for a busy October, with 21 cruise ship arrivals scheduled throughout the month, including six days with double arrivals and an overnight visit by Koningsdam.

According to the tentative schedule from the National Port System Administration (Asipona) Puerto Vallarta, cruise activity will begin October 2 and continue through October 29, bringing a steady stream of ships and thousands of potential visitors to the destination.

The month will open Friday, October 2, when the 295-meter Coral Princess is scheduled to arrive. The ship can accommodate up to 2,590 guests and 900 crew members. Celebrity Summit will follow on Sunday, October 4, with capacity for approximately 2,600 passengers and 1,000 crew.

On Monday, October 5, Nieuw Amsterdam is scheduled to call in Vallarta. The 285.43-meter Holland America Line ship can accommodate up to 2,731 passengers and 929 crew members.

The first double arrival of the month is set for Tuesday, October 6. Carnival Radiance, measuring 272 meters, is scheduled alongside the 300-meter Disney Wonder. The ships can accommodate up to 2,731 and 2,713 guests, respectively.

Another pair of ships is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, with the 330-meter Discovery Princess and 278-meter Brilliant Lady both making port calls. Discovery Princess has a double-occupancy capacity of 3,660 passengers and 1,346 crew members, while Brilliant Lady can accommodate about 2,770 guests and 1,160 crew.

Ruby Princess will arrive Thursday, October 8, with capacity for up to 3,080 passengers and 1,200 crew members.

The third double arrival is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, when Carnival Panorama and Voyager of the Seas are expected in port. Carnival Panorama measures 323.63 meters and can carry up to 4,008 passengers and 1,450 crew members. Voyager of the Seas, at 311 meters, can accommodate approximately 4,000 passengers and 1,200 crew members.

Discovery Princess and Brilliant Lady are scheduled to return Wednesday, October 14, followed by another visit from Ruby Princess on Saturday, October 17.

Double-ship days will continue Wednesday, October 21, when Discovery Princess and Brilliant Lady are scheduled to return once again. Norwegian Encore follows on Thursday, October 22. The 333.44-meter ship can accommodate up to 4,903 passengers and 1,735 crew members.

One of the month’s more notable port calls will take place Saturday, October 24, when the 299.65-meter Koningsdam arrives at Pier 1. Rather than making a same-day departure, the ship is scheduled to remain overnight in Puerto Vallarta, departing at 5:00 pm on Sunday, October 25.

Cruise activity will continue Tuesday, October 27, with the return of Carnival Panorama, followed by Discovery Princess on Wednesday, October 28.

The October schedule will conclude Thursday, October 29, with another double arrival. Norwegian Encore will return, joined by Carnival Firenze, a 323-meter ship with capacity for 4,126 passengers and approximately 1,425 crew members.

With 21 scheduled arrivals, six double-ship days and an overnight visit, October is setting the pace for what looks to be a busy cruise season ahead in Puerto Vallarta. Asipona’s tentative schedule points to continued activity in the coming months, with tens of thousands of cruise passengers expected to arrive as the season gets underway.
