Puerto Vallarta Strengthens Tourism Identity with IMPI Recognition

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta is reinforcing its position as one of Mexico’s leading tourism destinations following the official recognition of ASIPONA Puerto Vallarta as “The Most Mexican Port” by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), which granted the port a Commercial Notice Registration Title.

The registration grants Puerto Vallarta’s port authority, ASIPONA, exclusive rights to use the distinctive phrase in activities related to advertising, business administration, institutional promotion, and services connected to port operations. The protection will remain in effect through April 23, 2036.

The recognition provides legal backing for a slogan designed to reinforce Puerto Vallarta’s image and visibility in both domestic and international tourism markets. It also allows ASIPONA to incorporate the trademark exclusively into promotional campaigns and marketing strategies aimed at visitors, investors, and industries linked to tourism and maritime development.

Port officials emphasized that the distinction reflects the cultural character that has defined Puerto Vallarta for generations. The destination is widely recognized for showcasing some of Mexico and Jalisco’s most iconic traditions, including mariachi music, tequila, regional cuisine, arts, and customs that continue to attract travelers from around the world.

They noted that the registration serves as an important tool for strengthening the destination’s brand identity while reinforcing its position as one of the country’s leading representatives of Mexican culture and heritage.

The newly protected commercial notice is expected to play a role in future promotional campaigns, tourism fairs, and marketing initiatives, helping Puerto Vallarta stand out in an increasingly competitive global tourism industry.

By securing this recognition from IMPI, ASIPONA Puerto Vallarta gains formal support for a brand message that highlights the destination’s cultural roots and authentic Mexican character. The designation is expected to contribute to long-term efforts to promote Puerto Vallarta as a proudly Jalisco and distinctly Mexican destination for visitors in the years ahead.
