Puerto Vallarta Targets U.S. Travel Agents for Winter Boost

The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur) recently completed a targeted promotional tour across key Western cities in the United States, aiming to secure a strong influx of visitors ahead of the upcoming winter travel season. Through its “Jalisco Is Mexico” seminar series, local tourism officials delivered specialized training and destination updates to more than 120 high-performing travel advisors in Phoenix, Arizona; Denver, Colorado; and Salt Lake City, Utah.

These Southwestern and Rocky Mountain markets hold major strategic value for Puerto Vallarta. Beyond offering direct flight connections to Puerto Vallarta International Airport, the regions are filled with travelers eager to swap freezing winter temperatures for coastal sunshine, authentic cultural experiences, and world-class dining.

To maximize impact in Salt Lake City, Fidetur teamed up with Morris Columbus Travel, a well-established regional agency and tour operator. The collaboration included a high-profile presence at the Morris Columbus Travel Fall Travel Expo, where representatives connected directly with over a thousand prospective vacationers. Additionally, 12 lead agents at the agency’s headquarters received tailored training on the destination’s newest attractions and hospitality offerings.

During the expo, tourism representatives went live on The Travel Show, a popular travel-focused radio program hosted by Larry Gelwix, widely known as “The Getaway Guru.” The interview reached audiences across 20 radio stations in the Western U.S., pitching the latest reasons to choose Puerto Vallarta for a warm coastal escape.

Building and maintaining these travel networks relies on robust cross-sector backing. The international outreach was conducted alongside the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat and Visit Guadalajara, with support from key airline and wholesale partners like Aeroméxico, American Airlines, Delta, Delta Vacations, Volaris, and Price Agencies. Local hotel partners also joined the effort, including Casa Velas, Velas Vallarta, Hoteles Buenaventura, Sheraton Buganvilias, Villa Group, and Hoteles Krystal.

Convenient air travel remains one of Puerto Vallarta’s strongest selling points for travelers in these regions. Direct routes are readily available out of Denver on Southwest and United, from Phoenix via American Airlines and Southwest, and out of Salt Lake City through Delta Air Lines. These seamless flight options allow travelers to trade snow for sand in just a few short hours, reinforcing Puerto Vallarta as a top choice for winter getaways.
