Puerto Vallarta’s own Ruben Perez has taken a powerful leap forward in his musical journey by remixing and re-releasing his 2023 hit single, “Marry Me.” This fresh take reimagines the original release through a whole new lens, pairing expressive guitar melodies with a deeply soulful vocal performance that breathe new life into the track.
Rather than treating the phrase as a simple question, Perez frames “Marry Me” as a lifelong commitment, exploring how true love evolves beyond initial spark into a conscious decision made day after day.
The accompanying music video brings that idea to life through different couples, locations and moments, including personal images from Perez’s own wedding. It moves from a first encounter at a train station to dancing barefoot on a beach, sharing a rainy evening in Manhattan, raising a family and watching grandchildren grow. Together, the scenes reflect the quiet moments that can become the most meaningful parts of a lifelong relationship.
“Marry Me” also recognizes that lasting love is not always defined by dramatic gestures. Sometimes it is about staying, growing together, laughing together and waking up beside the person you chose years ago.
In that sense, the title is more than a question. It becomes a promise.

Perez’s connection to music began long before Marry Me. A lifelong music enthusiast and self-described “guitarist at heart,” he first explored his creativity by writing down his thoughts and ideas before discovering music as a deeper form of expression.
For more than a decade, he was an active part of Puerto Vallarta’s music scene, performing everything from pop and rock to reggae, punk and metal. As a member of cover bands, he brought his own style to each performance, entertaining audiences at local restaurants, bars, hotels and festivals.
In 2008, Perez made an important change in his musical career, moving his focus from performing to songwriting and composition. The decision gave him more room to develop his own ideas and explore his creative side.
Although he is no longer a full-time professional musician, Perez has continued to write, sing and play guitar on his compositions. His work combines his experience as a performer with the personal approach he has developed as a songwriter.
The new version of “Marry Me” is another chapter in that ongoing creative journey and offers listeners a chance to discover the work of a Puerto Vallarta artist whose connection to music has remained strong for decades.
Music lovers can now listen to the remixed version of “Marry Me” and experience its newly updated visual story on YouTube.
