Second Annual “Sabor en Competencia” Returns to Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta’s second annual “Sabor en Competencia” cooking competition will take place on March 15th at Parque Hidalgo. Seven restaurants will compete to win cash prizes and showcase their culinary creativity while highlighting fresh ingredients from local municipal markets.

This year’s event differs from the 2023 edition, which was held within the Emiliano Zapata market. While promoting municipal markets remains a goal, Parque Hidalgo has room for more participating restaurants, currently at three confirmed entrants.

Participating chefs will have 59 minutes to prepare a open-themed dish using ingredients sourced exclusively from municipal markets. Their creations will be judged by renowned chefs Pablo Antonio Díaz and Alejandra Aisury Delgado.

The competition runs from 4:30-9:00 pm, culminating in an awards ceremony. First place receives $8,500 pesos, with $5,500 pesos and $3,500 pesos awarded to second and third place, respectively. Restaurants interested in participating can apply until February 29th.

Additionally, plans are underway for a children’s edition of the competition, to be held at the Mercado del Mar in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood sometime in the near future.
