Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Awaysis Bar & Restaurant will welcome Slice & Smash as its new food partner beginning October 29, coinciding with Awaysis’ annual Season Opening.
The partnership brings Slice & Smash’s smashburgers and pizza that customers already know and love to Awaysis, along with new additions including salads, wings, nachos and… chimichangas!
For Awaysis owners Adam McRoberts and Gavin Garner, the decision was less about reinventing either business and more about finding the right fit.
“We wanted the food at Awaysis to feel like a real part of the experience, not an afterthought,” said McRoberts and Garner. “Slice & Smash already has food people know and love, and José understood immediately what we wanted Awaysis to be. It felt like the right partnership from the beginning.”
For José Rodriguez, the owner of Slice & Smash PV, the move is an opportunity to build on what the business already does well while trying some new things.
“We’re keeping the things people already come to us for, especially the smashburgers and pizza, and our original Slice & Smash location isn’t going anywhere,” said José Rodriguez, owner of Slice & Smash. “This is an expansion for us, not a move. We’re excited to bring what people already love about Slice & Smash into Awaysis, while having the room to try some new things and build out the menu in a different way.”
The partnership officially launches Thursday, October 29, as Awaysis begins its new season at Aquiles Serdán 625 in Puerto Vallarta’s Emiliano Zapata neighborhood.
Known as “The Bar for Everyone,” Awaysis has built its following as a casual neighborhood gathering place centered around good drinks, food, entertainment and a welcoming atmosphere.
McRoberts and Garner say that sense of familiarity is an important part of the new partnership.
“Awaysis is still Awaysis, and Slice & Smash is still Slice & Smash,” they said. “Now you just get both in the same place.”
