Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – According to the most recent INEGI National Urban Public Security Survey (ENSU), corresponding to the third quarter of 2022, Puerto Vallarta remains the safest city in Jalisco, and is again among the top ten with the lowest perception of insecurity on the national level.
The survey, published on Tuesday, October 18, places this destination as the safest city in the State of Jalisco, well above Zapopan, which obtained 60.7% perception of insecurity, Tlajomulco 67.4%, Tlaquepaque (71.6%), Tonalá (79.7%) and Guadalajara 83.2%.
NATIONAL SAFE CITIES OVERVIEW
At the national level, the ENSU establishes that the cities where the perception of insecurity are lowest are: San Pedro Garza García (14.55%), Benito Juárez (20.6%), Piedras Negras (23.8%), Tampico (25.0%), Los Mochis (25.0) and Cuajimalpa de Morelos with 25.1%, in that order.
They are followed by Saltillo with 25.8%, San Nicolás de los Garza (26.0%), Los Cabos (26.9%) and Puerto Vallarta with 28.8%, thus placing it in tenth place among the safest cities in the country, with even less perception than Mérida (29.1), Tepic (32.3%) and La Paz (36.0), which historically had lower levels of insecurity.
UNSAFE CITIES
In contrast, the cities with the highest percentage of people aged 18 and over who considered that living in their city is unsafe were: Fresnillo (94.7%), Irapuato (91.3%), Naucalpan de Juárez (90.8%), Zacatecas (90.7%), Ciudad Obregón (90.1%) and Colima with 86.6%, respectively.
The foregoing shows that the security strategy implemented by the three orders of government, and the strengthening of the Citizen Security directorate during the current administration headed by Professor Luis Alberto Michel Rodríguez, has given better results for the population of Vallarta and its visitors.
