Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Known as THE place to go for affordable nightlife in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romantica, Nacho Daddy Mexico is where locals, ex-pats and tourists from around the world gather to eat, drink, dance, listen to great music, or catch a great show.
The upstairs comes alive at night with live music and a variety of shows from The Boutique Theatre – Vallarta’s only dinner theater. Here’s what’s playing this week – and beyond!
Connect with Mexico – Mexico explained, in plain English
Bilingual host Carlos Navarro continues his popular “Connect With Mexico” discussion series at 2:00 pm on Sundays. The cost is $250 Pesos per person per session. (If you want to enjoy a meal at Nacho Daddy before the presentation, you can get a package price of only $530 Pesos.) Tickets are on sale now at The Boutique Theatre or online at btpv.org.
On March 4th, he’ll be presenting “A Third Country: The Mexico-US Border.”
Mexico has special policies concerning “the border region.” Time zones, gas prices, and taxes in border regions all change a bit simply because the United States is right across a field, a tiny gate, a fence, or an impenetrable wall. Let’s crisscross the border region and find out why it is really not Mexico or the US but more of a “third nation” all of its own.
A Special Anniversary Tribute to Patsy Cline
Mikki Prost is a Puerto Vallarta singer, dancer and actress, who researches and stars in her own tribute shows. On Monday, March 5, she will perform her annual Patsy Cline Memorial Show, honoring the country-western singing superstar’s death. The heart-warming show starts at 6:00 pm, blending music and memories. If you can’t make it on Monday, Mikki will continue to present ‘Patsy Cline’s Jukebox,’ in which audience members get to choose their favorite of 70 different Patsy songs for Mikki to sing, every Tuesday at 6:00 pm through March 20. Mikki is known for her warm rapport with audiences, and she enjoys chatting with fans and sharing stories after performances.
TED Talk Tuesdays
The Boutique Theater continues its wildly popular educational discussions, “TED Talk Tuesdays” every other Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon throughout the 2017-2018 season. Bringing lovers of learning together, TED Talk Tuesdays offer insights and inspirations from local experts in a variety of fields and pursuits. A no-host breakfast menu, offered by the Nacho Daddy kitchen, features items like breakfast burritos, coffee and other beverages.
Upcoming TED Talks
March 6: Kay Nash – “Stop Chasing Your Mind”
March 20: Rhonda Zarate – “Finding Your Happy”
Tickets cost $250 pesos each. Advance ticket purchases are recommended, and are available from btpv.org, or at the box office. Audience members are encouraged to remain after the presentations, to cultivate friendships and continue discussions, during a no-host lunch. The restaurant’s “Mex-Tex” menu includes such favorites as Tortilla Soup, Steak Nachos, and Chicken Fajitas.
“Par for the Corpse,” a Comedic Murder Mystery
Who’s to blame, when witty socialites keep dropping dead, at a cocktail party? But even more chilling is the question: who’s going to die next? Directed by Barbara J. Harris and playing March 8-24, Par for the Corpse is classic comedic “whodunnit,” with some surprising twists. Set in the Catskill Mountains, this “homicidal comedy” takes 10 characters away from their high-society comforts, and forces them to use their heads-to save their very lives. The cast is a dynamic blend of new, and returning actors to The Boutique. They are Stan Allen, Alice Averett, Todd Bates, Catherine Caldera, Marcy Howarth James, Montene Levine, Randy Levine, Josie MacGillivray, Casey McGregor, and Roger Vickery. An unexpected storm strands the party in the rustic-but-expensive retreat in the woods, where no one is safe, and everyone is on their own for their very survival.
“Feel The Love,” a Musical Bouquet
SYNG! – Puerto Vallarta’s international community chorus – brings talent and joy to the stage at 6 pm on Sunday, March 11, and Monday, March 12. Feel The Love is an entertaining evening of uplifting choral harmony. Proceeds benefit Puerto Vallarta youth music programs.
Time2Play Open Mic Nights
Garry Carson is host for Time2Play Open Mic Nights, where anyone can share their love of music and performing. Admission is just 50 pesos, free for anyone to takes the stage. The next Open Mic Night is scheduled to take place at 7:00 pm on March 14.
