WestJet’s Winter Schedule Connects Vancouver to Mexico’s Beaches

Calgary, Alberta, Canada – Canadian airline WestJet has announced its winter schedule from Vancouver, featuring six sun-soaked beach destinations in Mexico.

Departing from Vancouver International Airport, the new routes include Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo (starting from December), Mazatlán (starting from November), and Huatulco (starting from October). Additionally, there will be extra flights to Cancún, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta on the updated schedule.

“We are thrilled to bring more opportunities for our guests across B.C.’s Lower Mainland to seamlessly connect to their favorite destinations across Mexico this winter. In alignment with our strategy, we are proud to add Vancouver to the list of Canadian communities through which we are creating extensive and affordable opportunities for our guests to plan their winter getaways,” said WestJet Vice President Chris Avery.

WestJet’s winter schedule will see a 14% boost in capacity, solidifying its position as the leading airline from Vancouver to Mexico. This development emphasizes the airline’s commitment to serving the ever-growing demand for travel between these two destinations.

Moreover, starting December, WestJet passengers residing in the Greater Vancouver area will have more travel choices. Abbotsford International Airport will serve as an additional launch point, facilitating flights to Puerto Vallarta and San José del Cabo.

Mexico is among the most popular winter getaways for Canadians, ranking second only to the United States as a major source of tourism. In the final two months of the 2022-2023 winter season, Mexico welcomed 3.6 million international air travelers, marking a staggering 135.3% surge compared to the previous year. Among these, 656,293 visitors arrived from Canada.

The announcement of WestJet’s extended winter schedule comes as a welcomed offering for Canadians seeking a warm escape amidst the chilly months. The allure of pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and balmy climates have long made Mexico a favorite destination for those looking to trade snow for sand.

As winter approaches, WestJet’s expanded services provide not only a convenient travel option but also a tantalizing glimpse of sunshine and relaxation, beckoning travelers to experience the allure of Mexico’s breathtaking shores.
