Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Fans of The Beatles can take a colorful trip back to the 1960s this week when Nacho Daddy’s Tuesday Happy Hour Concert Series presents Yellow Submarine on September 29 at 4 pm.
The 1968 animated musical film, inspired by the music of The Beatles, follows John, Paul, George and Ringo as they join Captain Fred aboard his yellow submarine on a mission to save Pepperland from the music-hating Blue Meanies.
Directed by George Dunning with art direction by Heinz Edelmann, Yellow Submarine combines The Beatles’ music with imaginative animation and a story that moves between fantasy, humor and adventure. Much like Fantasia, the film uses visual sequences to bring its soundtrack to life, often allowing the music to take center stage.
Although the plot is framed as a modern fairy tale, the film reflected the artistic style and counterculture values of the era. More than five decades after its release, Yellow Submarine remains widely recognized for its influence on animation and its enduring appeal to generations of Beatles fans.
The film is the latest selection in Nacho Daddy’s weekly concert series, which features a different classic music film each Tuesday on the restaurant’s giant high-definition televisions.
The screening coincides with Happy Hour from 4 to 6 pm, offering $25-peso Pacifico and Corona beers, $40-peso margaritas and $40-peso house drinks. Guests can also order from Nacho Daddy’s Mex-Tex menu while taking in the film.
