An award-winning international journalist, Twila Crawford, has traveled the world and considers Puerto Vallarta one of the most beautiful and friendly places anywhere. She lived and worked in Washington, D.C. for years, enjoying the world of major media, politics, embassies, corporations, great universities, culture and renowned museums, along with her travel.
Twila wrote for major publications and a wire service, including coverage in war zones, had her own communication and public relations firm, and worked on political campaigns, including with the White House. Early in her career, she also worked in univerity-community communication and public relations. As a teenager, she had a radio show and a newspaper column. One of the first pieces she remembers writing was a detective mystery in fourth grade.
Interest, work and travel in Central America, Latin America and Mexico developed in the 1980´s. Twila studied in classes and workshops at the Archaeology Museum of the University of Pennsylvania, visiting most of the Maya archaeological sites, and including the distinctive archaeology of Western Mexico.
International human rights needs, including those of women and children, and homelessness issues are volunteer efforts for this communicator. In Puerto Vallarta, along with writing for local and international publications, in her Out and About column, she "writes about positive events and persons... sometimes jumping in the middle of frays when organizations and persons go astray."
In her private time, reading and writing, she enjoys her neighborhood of Mexican neighbors, art galleries, and music and festivities on the nearby Malecón. From her terrace, Twila appreciates the beautiful Banderas Bay and mountains, with clouds floating overhead, observing spectacular sunsets, fireworks, cruise ships, colorful blooming trees and vines, blue and yellow butterflies flying about, and the sounds of various birds calling to each other.

Local performer Mikki Prost, who is managing the Santa Barbara Theater for new owner Ann Marie Daminus, will be opening her one-woman cabaret, Fever, tomorrow night at 8 pm. The show will run every Thursday throughout the month of April.

New Owner at Santa Barbara Theater

A new owner, Ann Marie Daminus, takes over Santa Barbara Theater, 351 Olas Altas, effective April 1, 2008. Local performer Mikki Prost will manage the theater for Ann Marie. T.J. Hartung, with local theater background, also will help out Mikki.
